I am very excited to announce the release of Xobni for BlackBerry. It makes managing your address book a thing of the past – You will never need to “Add a Contact” again. Early feedback from our alpha users is that they have stopped using their native address books completely and use only Xobni for BlackBerry.
The power of Xobni for BlackBerry is found in exposing connections you never knew you had as well as in the depth of the profiles that are created. All profiles are created automatically and are as complete as the information we have to complete them – including recent emails, phone calls, SMS messages, upcoming and past meetings, and the network for each of your contacts. You can even view information and images from your contacts using the LinkedIn and Facebook. Everything you need is a single click away, so you can immediately contact anyone the way you want.
With Xobni Rank, we learn who you communicate with most often and order your address book by that – you always have the most important people at the top. Search for “Mike” and even if there are 20 Mikes in your Xobni address book, the most important one rises instantly.
We built our first mobile application on the BlackBerry platform because we could deeply integrate within the native OS to provide an impactful and seamless experience for our users. If you’re composing a message using the native BlackBerry compose screen, you can access all of your Xobni contacts with a flick up of your trackpad/ball. We love being able to improve our customers’ existing work-flow instead of forcing them to change it.
The icing on the cake is Xobni One. Xobni One leverages our new cloud-based service to connect Xobni for Outlook and Xobni for BlackBerry, giving you all your Xobni contacts on your phone, where you need them most. A separate post on the magic of Xobni One is coming soon.
This is the stuff that excites me – Creating great products that solve real problems!
Note: To connect to Outlook, Xobni One requires Xobni for Outlook 1.9.1 (build 10169 or later). This is an optional download for other Xobni users, and contains the following new features since version 1.9.0:
- Xobni One will update automatically when the computer is left idle (after the regular Xobni index process)
- New “Update Xobni One” menu item (see screenshot)
- Ability to delete Xobni One data from the server at any time in the Xobni Options window (under the “indexing” tab)
- Nearly unlimited phone numbers and fax numbers can be added for an existing Xobni profile (though still only the top two will show in the Xobni sidebar)
- When two Xobni profiles are merged, their phone numbers merge as well
- Numbers from Outlook Contacts are shown in the Xobni profile “edit” screen to help show the source of those numbers

Does “Xobni for BlackBerry” (the $10 one) send any of my contact data to the server or is it all local?
PS nice work on the compose screen widget injection
Hi Jedediah, none of your contacts’ data is sent to the server if Xobni One is not purchased. Thanks for your question.
Hi, does Xobni for BlackBerry support BlackBerry 8520 running OS 5.0?
Hey Jedediah Smith -
That is correct, if you only use the $9.99 Xobni for BlackBerry without Xobni One your contacts aren’t sent to our servers they reside on the device only.
thanks for the props on the compose screen
Hey Omar Qureshi
Sorry, we don’t currently support that device. You can see a list of our supported devices here:

Nice, but there should be a free trial version, perhaps limited to 30 days to see if it works for me & the way I manage e-mail. $10.00 is a bit much to spend on software to try it out.
I have Xobni plus and Xobni one…do they automatically update? Do i need to plug in to sync the two or do they automatically sync? my email info on Xobni plus doesnt show up on my blackberry, is there a reason for that?
I have the plus version and interested in utilizing One with my storm2, do I get any credit as a plus user
I just purchased Xobni One and can’t figure this out… I was under the impression that my Outlook email would be sync’d with my Xobni blackberry, but I don’t see that happening. Here are a few issues which I would like some help with…
1) When opening my Xobni address book on my Blackberry (bb) , I was under the impression that my contacts would be organized in order of ‘use’. This is not happening.
2) When I check my own contact info (in the default bb app) I have 4 phone numbers associated with my name. When I check my Xobni address book on my bb, i have 8 – and 4 of them have nothing to do with me. I have checked my Outlook and Blackberry address books and they only show the proper 4… what gives?
3) When I check my Xobni contacts and scroll to emails, I either see nothing (when I know there have been emails as recent as yesterday/today), or I see emails which are old. What gives?
One question which may be my big issue – When I bought Xobni One, I registered my email as my gmail account. Do I have to register with my Outlook account in order to retrieve my Outlook emails? I wouldn’t think so as I registered my Xobni in Outlook with my Gmail account… capice?
Steve
Awesome work team! I’m proud!
Just want to update my previous post… I still have the above issues, but want to add something I just noticed.
When I go to the Xobni menu bar in Outlook and select the ‘Update Xobni One’, nothing seems to happen. My question is: should there be a pop up to let me know the if the update has started / finished?
One other thing… When I search in my bb for contacts (thru Xobni) for contacts with the word “euro” (just using this as an example), I see 4 contacts. When I check for “euro” in the default bb contact list, I see 10 contacts. Why is my Xobni on my blackberry not using every contact which is in my bb default contact list???
This gets me very frustrated after spending $30… That said, I can’t wait to get this resolved because I want to show this off to every one of my friends and colleagues.
Steve
having trouble downloading the mobile app i have the storm 2
@Jason – When you buy Xobni for Blackberry you should get a link to install a new version of Xobni. That version will recognize that you are a Xobni Plus user and retain your status. Then Xobni Blackberry and Xobni Plus will sync data. Please send additional support request to premium support which you have access to as a Xobni Plus and Xobni Blackberry user.
@Rick Xobni One and Xobni Blackberry are additional services that work for both Xobni Free and Xobni Plus users. There are no discounts for existing users.

For compatible devices The Tour appears on the list as: BlackBerry Tour 9630 4.7
without a “+” sign after the 4.7. So am I right to assume that my Tour running 5.0 will not work? Thank u.
Hey Vandeleigh -
We’ve seen our app working fine on tours running 5.0 so go for it!
Cool! I limit my app purchases, but this one is on deck for sure! Seems ridiculously rad.
A few thoughs:
- From the comments above mine, it seems like Xobni for Blackberry was launched prematurely.
- It’s unfair to charge for an app (with no offer of a free, albeit limited) version) and expect early adapters to beta test it and sort all the kinks out..
- Not offering a discount to loyal Xobni Plus customers will alienate them.
- With competitors like SkyDeck and miqlive, Xobni will have to beef up it’s offering to remain competitive.
- On a positive note, the interface seems very intuitive and innovative.
Are you looking at creating Xobni for the Iphone? I’m a Xobni Plus user and love it. This would be a great addtion to the Iphone
When r u going to launch Xobni as Fanpage on FB ?
GT – our fan page does exist! It is at http://www.facebook.com/xobni
Thanks!
Bought the Blackberry and Xobni One a few days ago and am still getting settled in. A couple of things have come up. Some of my bb contacts are phone numbers and “Company” names. Those numbers are not making it to the Xobni database. Also, are the bb contacts supposed to sync to Outlook? They are not, the Outlook contacts are still empty. I like the concept and expect to keep the program but again, still trying to understand what is supposed to work and what isn’t.
Note: this post has been updated with release notes for Xobni for Outlook 1.9.1.
Matt – your ‘premium’ support team still has not contacted me… 47 hours and still waiting.
Do you guys have a money back guarantee policy?
Steve
Okay Steve, I just checked this and it appears the support team is in touch with you. They are top-notch and will address any issues. And yes, we of course have money back guarantee. We only want users that love our product.
i bought it, but I couldn’t log in by my phone.
it says: Sorry we aren’t able to log you in,please check your e-mail and password ??
so please can any one help me with it =)
How about a version for Android as well?
any chance, at all, of getting a version for the 8830?
I purchased just Xobni for blackberry (don’t have updated version of outlook to install Xobni on my PC). Is there a way for me to backup the contacts from the blackberry version without Xobni One?
Everytime I reinstall xobni on my blackberry it starts with a blank slate, rescans my messages folder and starts from scratch. Given that I don’t keep more than 2 weeks worth of messages at a time, I lose alot of the contacts I had previously.
Even if I backup the contacts on the device or SD card, Xobni does not seem to recognize it on fresh install.
